Can I play a Chameleon Card, change what's wild, and then go wild?
Submitted by Nichole in Naperville, IL
Absolutely! If you're daring enough to hold on to your Chameleon Card until you can go wild, you can play the Chameleon Card, declare a new wild card, and then go wild!
Can I discard a Chameleon Card after an opponent has gone wild?
Submitted by Pat in Aurora, IL
No! Even if you draw a Chameleon Card after an opponent has gone wild, you can never discard a Chameleon Card after someone has gone wild. You're stuck with 20 points!
What if the game ends in a tie?
Submitted by Mike & Lynn in New Mexico
There is not an official rule about ties, but if your game ends in a tie, we have received several suggestions for resolving it:
- Declare more than one winner!
- Play an eleventh round in which the 1s start wild. Deal eleven cards to all the players or just the ones that are tied.
- Replay the round of seven cards. Only allow odd numbers to be wild when Chameleon Cards are played.
- Make up your own rule and play until you have a winner!
What if a game has started and I want to join in the middle of it?
Submitted by Byron in Chicago, IL
Byron suggests that you enter the game with a score that is the average of the player in the lead and the player in last place. Thanks, Byron!
Is there a limit to the number of wild cards that can be in each herd or caravan?
Submitted by Rachel in Chicago, IL
No, unlike other rummy-based games, there is not a limit. As an example, if playing the round of 5 cards, you can have a 7 of alligator and four wild cards and go wild.
Do I get another turn after an opponent goes wild?
Submitted by Bill in Northbrook, IL
Yes! Every player gets to take one more turn after a player has gone wild. You can lay down as many herds and caravans as possible in order to minimize your score. But don't draw a Chameleon Card because you can't discard it and you'll be stuck with 20 points!
